A trip near the Peak District
First Drive In Bollington
Easter break.
After only a short half term in school, I felt more than ready for a break. With the weather finally having a good day, I took the bike out. I have started to go out at least once a week, just short journeys at the moment but my confidence has improved massively.
Today was the first day that I went on a bit of an ‘adventure’. Without a phone for a satnav, I just went out and got a little bit lost in the country lanes (and at one point a field). This is what I imagined having the project car would feel like.
First big drive out.
Today was my first big drive out. I took the bike about 20 miles to Lauras house. It was a bit nerve wracking as other drivers had zero idea of my lack of competence. I made it to her house in one piece with only a few mistakes made.
With somewhere to keep it safe and a location with less traffic, I can finally start to take the bike out and practice.
There is a bike in my lounge
My bike has arrived today! I do not have a suitable place to keep the bike in this house (that will be fixed shortly) which means that I currently have a motorbike inside my lounge.
This should only be a temporary measure, I’ll soon take it to Laura’s garage and keep it there. But for now, I have a strange lodger living with me.
Choosing a bike
I know that I won’t ever be somebody who is looking to go around a corner as fast as I can, it just doesn’t appeal to me. I am looking for an alternative to my car, to get me to places I want to visit and that journey to have been part of the fun.
I have found my first bike (here). As a little 125cc it will be fairly slow, but it should get me around okay, that is pretty much all I am looking for (for now).
Hopefully, I will get a few good trips out this year before I move on to something bigger or if it isn’t for me go back to the drawing board.
