008 - Nobody knows what they are doing
Hi,
Imposter syndrome may be inevitable in a job that requires you to adapt so quickly and frequently. Next week, I will be combination teaching - full time in the classroom with the majority of my pupils and providing home learning and phone calls for children who are self isolating.
This led me to recall a quote from Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos.
“When we’re criticised for ... choices, we listen and look at ourselves in the mirror. When we think our critics are right, we change. When we make mistakes, we apologise. But when you look in the mirror, assess the criticism, and still believe you’re doing the right thing, no force in the world should be able to move you.” *
It’s important to reflect on what people say but when you're sure what you are doing is correct - have the conviction to trust yourself as nobody else quite knows what they are doing either.
Three things
One interesting article – A female student's discovery led to her male supervisors Nobel Prize
Interesting pictures - When child labour was legal
One sneaky tip – (Taken from Tim Ferris) If you want to know the result of a poll on facebook/twitter but don’t want to vote. You can turn on airplane mode and vote, it wont register but you will see the results.
I hope there is something of value for you here. If you have anything to add, please contact me, I’d love to hear from you.
